School and Society must for survival of Education System in this age of Information.

India was a hive of education once upon a time. Today the scenario has totally changed. We are living in an age of information with sans knowledge and education without values and ethics. Education was and will always be the only source by which we human beings can become the source of all other resources. Hence, the contribution, importance and involvement of PEOPLE cannot be ignored or left to bloom in its own way. People need to be groomed- with proper values, knowledge, skill, ability to succeed without compromising ethics and harming our mother earth.

A guided and streamlined road map and conventions need to be built up and accepted to protect and produce the most valuable resource on earth- The Humans (People). The staff, the students, the school, the society and the systems weaved around the four pillars can only pave the way for an enlightened society, empowered humans with the right knowledge, and ability to take the decisions and actions- which will benefit and protect the human race (People) from all sorts of danger (Man-made and Natural).

A nation is known by the decision-making power of its people, the resources it has and the ability to utilize its own resources in the best possible way. Human Resource alone has the aura and power of creating, producing and for that matter destroying and wasting all other resources. This needs to be judiciously developed and used for exploration and optimum utilization. Alas! we are to a larger extent failing, in using the potentials and grooming the human resources which are available with us. It is pathetic that we haven’t been able to utilize and make good use of these resources, nor we could groom and polish them for our use and in fact in most of the cases depleted them, underutilized, over utilized, mis utilized and in most of the cases not utilized for the growth and development of the human beings. Human beings are either born with talent or else acquire, groom and develop them. Thus, it is necessary to develop skills, and creativity along with it we must develop the art of serving in the best manner. The school being the central location where actually the People ( Staff and Students) are managed-trained-groomed and programmed.

Human Resources has to be managed and groomed, and it becomes more crucial when we think of an educational institute. Legacies and conventions are laid down from generation to generation. It needs a strategy and method to handle people associated directly or indirectly. People need to be handled with care- as it is these people- staff and students of the society who will either make-up or break-up the institute. The most important bedding stones in establishing an educational Institute for our society is the Staff.

Staff: The best of the Institutions (Academic) will always have to its credit the best staff who are stable and have credibility. Rather anybody who is in campus giving its services and is a point of contact for visitors and outsiders. The staff is the face of the institution and hence, we cannot afford to focus only on teaching staff, administrative staff. The entire staff will form the first stepping layer which needs to be bonded and handled with care- after all they are Human. Institutes need staff who are capable to handle work and situation, complete the task with novelty and contribute in branding of the institution, standby during crisis management, power to extend a positive solution, who will have to develop passion and dedications. These are the staff upon whom the institutes can depend and pick for future leaders to be groomed and trusted. Since they are human beings with flesh and blood, they have a very high quotient of emotions and sometimes blended with ego. Apart from the social, economic, status in institutions with job security, a bigger factor works is Job satisfaction and Emotions. Job satisfaction is closely linked with the ease of working, handling pressure, decision making and recognition. Appreciation is yet another area which all workers crave silently packed with benefits (Economic or position). The top brass must take care of emotions as it is a very serious area, which is really fragile and need to be understood and molded. Every human being is emotional and have an emotional quotient.

If emotions are handled with timely care and justifications, then it can improve over time. While some people are born with it, others learn and practice EQ skills throughout life. An average EQ score ranges from 90-100, with a perfect score measuring 160.

If the teaching is not organized then it goes sixer in the child’s mind.

What does a staff want from their employer? Of-course, a handsome pay pack, any other perks. Yet there is more to it. They are willing to work for brands who have credibility. The staff expects equality, recognition and appreciation, including them in decision making, scope for upgrading in job title and position, mutual bond and trust, justice, ease and peace of working, space for creativity- a stress free environment, where they are respected and concerned. A friendly atmosphere where they have scope to learn, explore and grow mutually. Any institute which works on the basic principle will be able to write history with such a staff- who are always motivated to take challenges, targets, and calibrate their ability to perform with quality. Hence, the economy, social value, appreciation and scope to grow along with room for emotion support of the people has to be top priority to have a bond among the staff. It is also suggested to have players who can act as difference and stress busters among the staff. A set of guided rules is another systematic way to cement the staff to get the desired output. The Team spirit must be awaken and charged by all means and this can be done by the leader and senior projected leaders.

Here are few quick Abc….to carry away and explore. For managing staff, the following areas must be identified and defined during staff induction and orientation program.

A= Action plan and Attitude.

B= Brainstorming and Back end staff integration.

C= Control, Co-ordination & Co-operation and Culture(Work)

D= Desired work action, Delegation of work and Dedication.

E= Expected outcome and Environment.

The Staff Orientation or Induction must be conducted for all new appointees as well as old staff, which will act as boosters and reminders on yearly basis. Normally, it is advised to have two sessions per academic year. One at the beginning and second in mid-term session. The impact and clarity will always depend upon the experience of the visionary and leader of the institute. A clear line must be drawn for acts of commissions and omissions, and the purpose of having you as the staff. This will help render and create an environment of safety and security, a sense of belongingness. A lot of area needs to be taken care especially in areas of discipline, responsibility, accountability and sharing of work load. Delegation and distribution of job, keeping in mind the capacity, ability to do and result. Equally there should be clear message for the employee (Staff-People) in the institute who must be amicable, unbiased, supportive, co-operative and helping with a positive solution provider. In this process its important to teach and be impartial, passionate and hand-holding with mutual trust and respect. These are the seeds which will grow and yield confidence and give experiential knowledge to develop an institution, which we all crave and dream- almost an idealistic one. This needs grooming and training, and obviously the leader is one of the most vital components in establishing the same. It is the top boss, who actually have the responsibility to weave all the staff into one unified force-who actually represents the institution. The leader can either make or break the unity of its people who can actually be motivated to bring out astounding results for the institute.

The Students: The students are the future people who also need to be considered as one of the other stake holders. Hence, students are also one of the important pillars of an institution. An institution is known by its students, their results and their placement in the society. It is the students who actually bring laurels to the institute with the hard and joint efforts of the staff, both on screen and behind the screen. Students, need to be trained on daily basis on every front and made to face challenges, where both emotional, physical, logical and critical thinking ability with IQ needs to be built up and taken care. Love for oneself and respect for others with empathy, values and ethics has to be the centrifugal force around which such people need to grow. Multitasking dynamics and peer pressure along with expectations and ability must be matched in a cumulative manner.

The Society: It is here where the maximum learning, failures and test are done and results are given out to the people who faced it. It is that battle ground which every one faces and has to learn how to cope with unexpected situations and outcomes. In most of the cases the critical instant judgements are vague and biased-in short not correct. In this information age- the age of digital social media, most of the analysis and announcement are fake and smartly tailored as per needs. It is here that the people need to be protected and safe from being victimized and stigmatized. Its contagious. The people need to be protected with anti-virus and this can be done only by staying above the social media and rumors for that matter. A strong uninterrupted and intermittent flow of correct information and sharing of justified information with its own people can help in vaccination of our people, whom we care, protect and never want to lose.

The institutes must act as shields for protecting its own staff with proper encouragement both in terms of money and kind. The problems of its people must be solved and understood, and accepted as if the thorns are in our own shoe-till then we will never be able to brand and form a great task force ready to face all difficulties boldly and in a unified manner.

Thus, Staff-student- society is a triangle, which cannot afford to neglect the other in growing up with people of joy, creativity, character, confidence and co-operation. It is the people who have dedication and passion for what ever little they contribute in the building up of its own group- be it staff- students- or society- where the institute is in the limelight. Therefore, a great task force is possible with people who live their dreams with the dreams of its own institute-society-nation. Lets’ not ignore the great source of inspiration the ‘People’ in the progress and growth of any institute. The people about whom we like to talk and remember and give anecdotes to the generations to come.
